MISSION STATEMENT

The purpose of the Friends of Alyn Valley Woods (FOAVW) is to:-

• conserve and enhance the flora and fauna of the Alyn Valley Woods,

• promote its conservation value to all local people, and

• enhance liaison and cooperation with local landowners.

The aims of the Friends of Alyn Valley Woods are to:-

1) Work with landowners and other partners to conserve and enhance the natural flora and fauna of the Alyn Valley Woods.

2) Promote awareness and understanding of the wildlife, geodiversity and historical value of the Alyn Valley Woods.

3) Survey and monitor the flora and fauna of the Alyn Valley Woods.

4) Bring together people with an interest in the Alyn Valley Woods and act as a forum for exchange of views and ideas.

5) Encourage interest and involvement of the local community in work that furthers the aims of the Friends of Alyn Valley Woods.

6) Raise funds to enable the Friends of Alyn Valley Woods to carry out their stated aims.

7) Support appropriate use of the Alyn Valley Woods for quiet recreation.

8) Improve access to and within the Alyn Valley Woods for people on foot and for disabled persons, where appropriate and possible.

9) Develop the potential of the Alyn Valley Woods for education and training opportunities, and for providing an economic benefit.

10) Work with landowners and local authority partners on planning issues to ensure appropriate development.
